More than 400 shoppers in total attended the two-day Kids Preloved Winter Sale — a consignment sale organised by K2 Consignments.
K2 Consignments owner and event organiser Karena Garrett said she was "super stoked" by the outcome.
The sale was aimed at expecting parents and young families with growing children who were looking for "good-condition essentials".
Volunteers sold clothing, sporting gear, books, games, toys, nursery accessories, scooters and more on behalf of the 83 locals who registered for the sale.
A total of $19,000 would be going back to the original sellers and the remaining clothing would be given to Pregnancy Help, Plunket, Women’s Refuge, Red Cross and the Dunedin Parents Centre, Ms Garrett said.
"It’s kind of a nice way, if you have a lot of stuff that you want to get rid of but you’re too embarrassed to sell, like a $3 item online or a $5 item.
"People who buy these second-hand goods are also supporting another local family, so it’s kind of full circle."
She had found it difficult to find quality children’s stuff at op-shops in the past, and the sale was a nice way to have it all in one place without having to travel around town, she said.
