Catch of the day

A barracouta which taunted three Tahuna Normal Intermediate School classmates for three hours lost the battle in the end.

The Macandrew Bay locals (from left) Julian Boddem, Kymani Lee Joyce and Sam McKee, all 11, spent yesterday fishing from the wharf during a teachers-only day, catching a few spotties but losing four precious soft-bait lures to the barracouta.

Cheers of joy rang out as they finally landed the fish.

The lads vowed to take their prize home and retrieve their soft-bait lures.
