Three-piece "swamp rock" outfit Bulletproof Convertible will begin 2025 with a rare public show at Dunedin’s Moons venue this Saturday night.

The trio of Silas Waring (guitar), Alex Ramsay (drums) and Paul Southworth (double bass) play a high-energy, 1950s-influenced style of music that features original songs.

In a statement, the band said their sound was "all-original, familiar, driving, relentless and danceable", with Waring’s songwriting delivering fascinating characters.

"His uncanny ability to visualise a scene is compelling, he draws you in with a picture and before you know it you are singing the hook along with the band all the while grooving and bumping to the beat," the statement said.

Bulletproof Convertible  is known for holding Dead Rockers Ball fundraising events for local organisations, and are planning several in the wider Dunedin area during 2025. — APL
