Jazz fans and keen singers staying in Dunedin over Easter will have the chance to experience two intimate musical offerings, courtesy of local jazz duo Reid+Wolken.

The duo, comprising experienced jazz vocalist Karin Reid and talented guitarist Alex Wolken, will lead two "Mix Tape Choir" sessions for keen local singers.

The weekend singing workshop will be held across two sessions, from noon-3pm on Saturday and Sunday, April 19 and 20, at the former Tapley Swift building, 88 Vogel St.

Participants will be guided through a repertoire of familiar (or not so familiar) swing, blues and ballads from the Great American Songbook.

The workshop will focus on a few of the well-known standards, composed by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Harold Arlen and Hoagy Carmichael, and stem from Reid’s own jazz repertoire.

No music knowledge or audition is required; come along for some fun and uplifting singing.

Registrations are essential, via jazzdunedin5@gmail.com (cost $90).

Following the singing workshop, Reid+Wolken will continue to highlight the golden age of jazz with a performance of songs by jazz legends Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass on Easter Monday, April 21, from 4pm, also at 88 Vogel St.

The songs have been selected from studio and live albums,
