Troupe starts ‘old’ season

Dunedin improvised comedy troupe Improsaurus have launched the first half of their 2025 season.

This season is an "old stuff" season, in which Improsaurus shows celebrate the very old, including ancient wonders, myths and legends, early inventions and more.

After starting off with a musical show looking at ancient wonders, the Improsaurus team is moving on to to the world of literature for its "Literature Show", to be held tomorrow, from 8pm, at the New Athenaeum Theatre.

This will be followed on April 25 by "The Art Show", then "The Inventions Show" on May 9 and "The Myths and Legends Show" on May 23.

All shows will be held at the same theatre.

Improsaurus started in 2009 as a group of University of Otago students looking for a creative outlet, and soon became aligned with the Fortune Theatre.

Improsaurus has since grown and developed, gaining a great reputation within the Dunedin community, in its new home at the New Athenaeum Theatre.

Improsaurus’ specialty is its own original brand of long form improv, along with fresh, innovative formats developed by the troupe each fortnight. — APL
