Bella James and Megan Gibbs join other newbies Morna Nielsen and Georgie Clarke.
Nielsen has transferred from Northern Districts and the White Ferns spinner is a smart acquisition for the Sparks. And Clarke has opted to join the Otago ranks after struggling to get a run for Canterbury.
Their appearances in the squad have been well signposted but James and Gibbs are perhaps a surprise.
Sparks coach Warren Lees said James will get an opportunity in one of the three fixtures against Auckland next weekend.
''She's a gritty wicketkeeper-batsman but is in this side mainly for her batting,'' he said.
''We are looking for a young player to bring through. She has a great sports brain and is quite competitive and that is something we need to develop because we don't play enough cricket.
''The other new player is Megan Gibbs. She is from Napier but has been a student down here. She is very competitive and probably one of our best fielders.''
She is also a useful right-arm medium pacer and can hit the ball ''fairly hard down the order''.
One area where the defending one-day champions will be strong this season is in their spinning stocks.
Nielsen is highly regarded. The left-armer is New Zealand's top-ranked bowler with an ICC ranking of 17th.
Former New Zealand leg spinner Emma Campbell has 117 one-day wickets at an average of 15.17 and is vastly experienced, and all-rounder Leigh Kasperek is a very useful off-break bowler as well.
She was the Sparks' leading wicket-taker last season with 18.
White Ferns and Sparks captain Suzie Bates is the most prized wicket in the competition.
Last summer she scored 680 runs at 75.55, including one hundred, and was bowled for 99 in the final with victory in sight.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Katey Martin has been a wonderful and loyal performer for Otago.
She posted her maiden century and scored almost 300 runs during the campaign.
All-rounder Victoria Abbott also made a key contribution in the final with a fine innings of 66 and bowled well all season with 10 wickets at an average of 21.
It is powerful-looking line-up, with players like Caitlin Blakely, Polly Inglis and Millie Cowan all expected to have a greater impact on the tournament this summer.
The Otago team to contest the under-21 tournament in Lincoln in December has also been named. It features four Sparks players and will be captained by Blakely.
