Alexandra’s pop-up library is well and truly settled in its "home from home", at Central Stories, while the library building is refurbished.

Alexandra Library team leader Mo Fenton said the library team had worked hard to keep operations running in the smaller space.

The pop-up library opened on June 17, but almost immediately closed again after a burst water pipe closed Central Stories.

No library books or equipment were damaged and the library reopened a few days later — "we’ve not looked back, really", Ms Fenton said.

The pop-up library fitted in well with Central Stories’ galley and museum.

"It’s been quite a nice combined space ... it doesn’t look out of place at all."

There had been great responses to the school holiday programme and staff had established a solid routine with school classes, she said.

Patrons were just pleased to see the library running.

"People always appreciate ... what’s going on behind the scenes."

Staff would not know themselves when they returned to the new building, which was expected to be late this year, Ms Fenton said.

"The new space is going to be really good ... everything will be in its place."
