The two-day event has run for 20 years and allows artists to display their work among the private gardens of Alexandra locals.
The event runs once every two years.
Alexandra Community Arts Council president Shona Bain said profits from the volunteer-run event would go back into the community to fund art scholarships.
One of the artists displaying their work was Gwenyth Wilson, of Alexandra.
She said she had been to quite a few of the Arts in the Garden events, and that she had been making things since "forever".
She upcycled old denim, rugs and rags.
As well as art on display visitors were treated to musical performances at the weekend.
Duo Bronwyn Barnes and Nick Meissel described the weekend as "fab" and said the atmosphere had been lovely.
