Pupils dressed as their favourite book or movie character to raise funds to buy new books for the library.
The PTSA also gave $1500 to buy books for the school.
Library Day, a long-standing tradition at the school, was started in 1938 as a means of building up the school's library.
As part of the annual event, University of Otago College of Education Creative New Zealand Children's Writer in Residence and New Zealand Post Book Award winner Melinda Szymanik was guest speaker at school assembly.
