New Zealand Cricket and the Board of Control for Cricket in India have agreed on a playing schedule but the touring itinerary is still to be hammered out.
The Black Caps will play five one-day internationals and two tests against India in January and February. India will also play a two-day warm-up game before the test series.
The dates are set in stone but where those fixtures will be played is still up in the air.
INZC chief executive David White said the venues for the Indian tour would be announced in the next week or so.
It is understood one of the tests will be held at Eden Park with perhaps Wellington's Basin Reserve or Hamilton's Seddon Park shaping as the most likely venue for the remaining test.
Otago Cricket Association Ross Dykes said he had not ''heard a word'' when asked whether Dunedin's University Oval was in the running for one of the one-dayers.
However, he suggested India would be a popular touring side and NZC may look to venues where it could ''cash in''.
That might mean the University Oval is overlooked for the Indian tour.
There is international cricket scheduled in Otago this summer with the West Indies playing a test in Dunedin in early December and a one-dayer in Queenstown on New Year's Day.
• The Otago Volts may have to make a late change to their travel itinerary with website cricinfo reporting Ahmedabad is likely to host the Champions League qualifiers rather than Hyderabad.
State police have told Hyderabad they would not be able to provide adequate security from September 17-20 because the games clash with the Ganesh immersion.
