The Volts restricted the home side to 113 for nine with some disciplined bowling. James Neesham and Jacob Duffy picked up three wickets apiece but coach Vaughn Johnson said the batting effort was less impressive.
The Volts limped home as spinners Nick Beard (20) and Mark Craig (20 not out) combined in a 29-run stand for the eighth wicket.
''I was very happy with the way we bowled and fielded,'' Johnson said.
''In fact, I'm extremely happy with the way we are going with the ball. I was a bit disappointed with the batting. Perhaps it was a little bit of a wake-up call for some of them.
''We did it so easily [on Monday] cruising to a 10-wicket win, so some of the guys might have been off-guard a little bit. There were a couple of wrong options and some guys got themselves out.''
The sides will pay game three of their five-game series today.
