A cabaret evening tomorrow night with cocktails at the art deco bar in the Ranfurly Hotel and then live music at the Maniototo Stadium will open the festival.
That will be followed by a full day of events on Saturday in the town's main street.
Highlights include a grand parade from 12.30pm featuring the Maniototo Highland Pipe Band, vintage cars and performers. All-day entertainment includes a market with about 70 stalls, live music, the Lions car boot sale and a special area just for children, complete with bouncy obstacle course, face painting and magic.
Festival event manager Martin McPherson, also an art deco enthusiast, said that while he had a 1920s-'40s-style costume to wear, he would also be sporting his lucky Panama hat - the hat that ensures good weather.
As well as art deco celebrations, the annual Otago Central Rail Trail Duathlon will pass through Ranfurly this weekend.
The town is the end of the first leg of the event, which continues to Middlemarch the following day.
