The moving of thousands of costumes which have all appeared on stage over the past 40 years will be celebrated this weekend.
The South Otago Theatrical Society has finished a five-year project to relocate its wardrobe storage and hire building.
The society made the most of its central Balclutha property by relocating two unused school classrooms to land that was previously used for car parking.
It received money from the Community Trust of Otago, the Trusts Charitable Foundation and New Zealand Music Theatre Federation for the project.
Society secretary Lorraine McLean said many hours of voluntary work had been spent refitting the building.
"Hundreds of hours have been spent also by the wardrobe ladies . . . buttons and gloves to evening gowns, tuxedoes and character costumes have now all been sorted, labelled and hung."
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the George St clubrooms at 3pm on Saturday, followed by an entertainment.
