This weekend marks the start of the New Zealand school holidays and Coronet Peak area manager Hamish McCrostie is anticipating a busy weekend.

The field will be host to Mountain Mayhem on Saturday, a Queenstown Winter Festival event which includes the suitcase race, musical chairs, a snow dig and the dash for cash.

The field's Rocky Gully T-bar and Heidi's Hut will also open for the weekend and with that Mr McCrostie said "the mountain is in full swing".

The field will be open for night skiing on Friday and Saturday nights, from 4pm until 9pm for those buying a night pass. Ski enthusiasts can also buy a twilight pass, valid from 12.30pm-9pm.

Over at the Remarkables on Sunday, competitors in the Slopestyle Invitational will perform tricks in the terrain park in the hope of winning substantial prizes.
