Charges of breaching liquor ban

A 21-year-old Australian man was arrested and charged with breaching the liquor ban in central Queenstown on Saturday at 11pm.

• A 19-year-old Winton man was arrested on Beach St on Sunday at 3am and charged with breaching the liquor ban.

He had been warned previously.

• A 31-year-old Cromwell man was arrested and charged with assault and resisting arrest, outside Fergburger on Sunday at 4.15am.

Senior Constable Chris Blackford, of Queenstown, said yesterday the man had been involved in a verbal altercation and police intervened when he allegedly attacked another man.

• A Christchurch woman was arrested and charged with disorderly behaviour and breach of the liquor ban. She was one of a group of people arguing outside the World Bar, on Shotover St, on Monday at 12.30am.

• A Queenstown man was taken into custody after the alleged theft of a pie from the Night 'n Day store on Camp St, on Monday, at 2.26am.

Snr Const Blackford said the intoxicated man was unable to use his eftpos card. He was allowed to sleep off his intoxication then pay for the pie.

• A female driver from Queenstown and her four female passengers all escaped injury when she lost control of the car she was driving on an icy patch of Arthurs Point Rd on Monday at 7.10pm.

The car hit metal barriers, spun around and hit a brick wall, Snr Const Blackford said.

• A 42-year-old Queenstown woman was arrested yesterday, at 12.05am, after allegedly breaching her bail conditions by consuming alcohol. She was to appear in the Queenstown District Court yesterday.
