Police are investigating a fire alarm activation at the Novotel Hotel on Earl St at 9.40am on Saturday. Sergeant Keith Newell, of Queenstown, said 450 guests were evacuated.
• Two drivers in the Queenstown CBD got into a physical altercation on Saturday morning after one "gave the other driver the fingers", Sgt Newell said. The offender, a 54-year-old Queenstown male, took exception to the gesture, got out of his vehicle and "punched the victim on the chin". Inquiries are continuing.
• Police are investigating a theft from Aspen Lodge on Gorge Rd after visitors reported their laptop and cash had been taken.
• A Frankton Rd resident arrived home about midnight on Saturday to find his home had been entered. Sgt Newell said wine had been spilled, the home searched and a laptop and wine stolen.
• A 23-year-old man was arrested and charged with theft and possession of cannabis after allegedly stealing money from a "tip jar" at the Boiler Room, on Steamer Wharf.
• Police are making inquiries after two males, understood to be from Southland, were "wrestling" inside the Camp St Night'n Day store and knocked over a confectionery stand, smashing it to the floor before running from the scene.
• Sgt Newell said police were investigating the theft of a 32-inch plasma television from a room at the Copthorne Hotel on Frankton Rd, reported to police at the weekend.
