Queenstown police dealt with a spate of alcohol-related offending during the long weekend, including one man who police watched allegedly urinate on their patrol car.
A 16-year-old from Invercargill was the first arrest for the weekend after allegedly returning a breath-alcohol level of 388mcg when stopped on Rees St at 11.45pm on Saturday, Acting Sergeant Blair Duffy said.
The teen would be charged and referred to youth aid.
At 12.35am on Sunday a 20 year-old Christchurch man was arrested and charged with possession of an offensive weapon and assault after he allegedly headbutted a man on Church St outside the Dux De Luxe.
Police found a knife on him, and it is believed he also presented the knife earlier following another argument in Shotover St, Acting Sgt Duffy said.
A guest at the Heritage Hotel was arrested at 12.44am for threatening language after he returned to the hotel allegedly intoxicated and become abusive and argumentative with staff when he was asked to get out of the swimming pool.
Acting Sgt Duffy said the man was taken to the Queenstown Police Station "to sleep it off".
The next incident happened at 1.30am when an alleged drunk-driver crashed at the back of Deco Backpackers on Man St.
The man, who is from the United Kingdom but lives in Queenstown, returned a breath-alcohol level of 914mcg, he said.
Acting Sgt Duffy said his car had "come to rest" against the back of the Deco backpackers building, but there did not appear to be damage to the building.
A man was arrested for drink-driving on Hay St after allegedly returning a breath-alcohol level of 534mcg.
An hour later, a 17-year-old Invercargill youth was arrested after allegedly returning a breath-alcohol level of 322mcg.
Police did not have to go far to make their final arrest for the weekend - a 20-year-year man made himself an "easy catch" when police watched him urinate on their patrol car, Acting Sgt Duffy said.
