The Maniototo Community Board approved $1500 of additional funding for the Maniototo Early Settlers Association at its meeting last week.
It receives $3500 annually from the board for operational costs.
This year, it is struggling in the face of rising electricity, compliance and museum operation costs The settlers group is seeking other means of funding to improve its museum complex.
• The community board agreed to allow additional overnight camping at the Maniototo Park during Labour Weekend in October.
The Otago Area Motor Caravan Association is planning to hold a rally at Ranfurly from October 24-27.
Board chairman Richard Smith said it was resolved to charge the association a $1000 bond for the one-off event as well as $5 a caravan parked overnight at the Maniototo Park.
A request by rally organiser Neil Kennedy for use of the Maniototo Rugby Clubrooms during the event was also approved.
• The community board also chose reserve land on Lomond St as a future location for the Naseby Resource Recovery Depot.
The Lomond St site complied with most requested criteria for the future depot.
