A sale, held in one of the church buildings, offered table cloths, candlewick bedspreads and linen sheet sets as well as china and crockery for sale.
All were donated by members of the community.
Tokomairiro Presbyterian Church restoration fund committee spokeswoman Marion McGuigan, said $2200 was a bit more than the committee was expecting.
"We are very appreciative of the community support."
The cost of maintaining the old building, which was opened on October 13, 1889, was predicted to be about $500,000 in 2008.
This led to suggestions the historic church could be closed and possibly demolished, which brought a public outcry.
A record 504 submissions were received by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust in December last year, supporting moves to place a category 1 registration on the building.
The committee is in the process of raising $45,000 to fund a conservation report, which will outline what needs to be done to conserve the structure and the cost.
Mrs McGuigan said the committee now has about $20,000 in the bank.
The church was designed by architect Robert Arthur Lawson, who also designed Dunedin's First Presbyterian Church and the Municipal Chambers.
