Woman wants rapist to move in

A double rapist has been denied parole, to protect a woman who wants him to live with her.

Ihaia Mack Moeau, jailed for 10 years for raping a Christchurch woman in 2003, was denied parole last month.

The latest hearing was addressed by a woman who formed a relationship with him in prison and wanted him to move in with her and her four-year-old son, The Press reported today.

She told the Parole Board she had no safety concerns about him coming to live with them and was able to recognise when "unsafe situations arise" and react accordingly.

However, the board said it was concerned about Moeau living with the woman due to his history of violence and rape.
