Police seek people seen near Emma Campbell's car

Police investigating the disappearance of Christchurch woman Emma Campbell are appealing for two people seen driving near where her crashed vehicle was found to come forward.

A witness has told police they saw a light-coloured, older-style sedan with square tail lights reversing up Dyers Pass Rd in the Port Hills, close to where Ms Campbell's 1994 blue Toyota Corolla was found on the morning of Saturday May 1.

Detective Senior Sergeant John Rae, of Christchurch, said there were two people in the car police would like to speak with.

"We're still desperately trying to find her and we still would like to hear from anybody with any information as to what might have happened to her or where she might have gone."

It was likely the accident had been staged but police were not ruling out foul play, he said.

Police were still trying to account for what Ms Campbell was doing between when she was last seen at a Shell service station on Riccarton Road about 5.35am, and when her car was found, 20 minutes drive away, about 7.15am.

It was also possible Ms Campbell had made her way back to Dyers Pass Rd after her car went down a bank.

It was unlikely anyone with new information would come forward so long after the incident, but it was still possible there was someone who had seen her walking on the road who had not yet heard about the case, Mr Rae said.

Emma Campbell is 29-years-old. She is tall, has an athletic to skinny build, has red coloured hair and was wearing spectacles, a black ballerina-style jersey and a green top with fawn coloured pants.
