Name suppression was lifted at midday on Baz Michael Edmonds who is accused of murdering a man during a fight in Christchurch on Tuesday.
Edmonds, a 39-year-old born in England, is charged with murdering Andre James Delamere in Ollivier Street in suburban Phillipsville during what police described as a domestic altercation.
He appeared in Christchurch District Court yesterday when he was remanded in custody until Friday for a bail application.
Judge Noel Walsh yesterday granted the suppression order to allow family members to travel to Auckland to tell Edmonds' elderly parents that he had been arrested and charged.
