Police have named an elderly man who died after his mobility scooter collided with a car in Kaiapoi, North Canterbury, yesterday.
Nevill Robert Sutherland, a 73-year-old from Kaiapoi, was taken to Christchurch Hospital following the crash on Ohoka Road about 5pm, but died as a result of his injuries.
Kaiapoi Sergeant Graeme Crosson said police were still investigating the cause of the crash and that it was too early to say whether charges would be laid.
