Police today said they were concerned about the whereabouts a 15-year-old girl and her five-week-old baby, reported missing in Auckland since the middle of last week.
The girl, Maieva Roimata Tuoro, known as Roimata, was last seen about 11.45am on Wednesday walking along Edinburgh St, in Pukekohe, in the company of an older Maori woman.
Detective Constable Gordon Narbey said Roimata's baby had breathing difficulties and required medical attention.
While the baby's condition was not life-threatening, it was a cause for concern.
Mr Narbey said police had not yet established who the older woman was.
He said Roimata was believed to be still in the Counties Manukau area and with friends.
She was described as having brown eyes and black hair, and was wearing a grey, long sleeve top, black jeans and pink sheepskin boots when she went missing.
Mr Narbey said members of the public with information or sightings of Roimata should contact police.
