A 39-year-old man has been arrested following a serious assault in Christchurch overnight.
Police were called to a St Albans address by a neighbour just before 11pm, and found the victim lying in the driveway.
The 48-year-old was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.
The alleged offender was arrested at the scene and will appear in the Christchurch District Court this morning on a charge of injuring with intent to injure.
The men are believed to be neighbours, said detective Mark Reid.
Inquiries are ongoing and a scene examination is underway at the address this morning.
