19 choirs (about 500 pupils) from secondary schools in Otago and South Canterbury performed for adjudicator Peter de Blois.

Results:
Pre-1930 European song, Tutti Cantare (Otago Boys' High School and Otago Girls' High School); best performance of a New Zealand song, Sings Hilda (St Hilda's Collegiate); choral excellence, Craighead Choir (Craighead Diocesan School, Timaru); most improved choir, Logan Park High School; most promising student conductor, Sam Madden (Otago Boys'); highly commended: Tutti Cantare, Boys' Choir 2012 (Otago Boys'); Baroque (Otago Boys' and Otago Girls'); Craighead Choir; commended: St Hilda's Madrigal (St Hilda's); Sings Hilda, Southern Hesperides (Otago Girls'); capturing the spirit of the festival: King's Choir (King's High School).

At the conclusion of the regional festivals, 18 choirs will be selected to participate in the national final.
