A burned-out car sits in the grass in Serpentine Ave.

Crashed cars occupy not only the street but part of the footpath in Kaikorai Valley Rd, and a crashed car surrounded by orange cones remained in Kaikorai Valley Rd yesterday. Dunedin City Council parking services team leader Carol Gray said the responsibility to remove the majority of the vehicles sat with their owners.

However, one of the vehicles on Kaikorai Valley Rd might meet the criteria to be classed as an abandoned vehicle.

The council would undertake the legally required notification process and, if it was confirmed as abandoned, would have it towed, she said.
