Water spews out over SH1 in Dunedin

A water main has burst spewing water on to Dunedin's southbound one-way system.

Workers from Citycare Water are on hand to try to stem the flow of water this morning, which has inundated SH1 and sandbags have been placed outside Toitū Otago Settlers Museum to stop water from getting in.

A photographer at the scene said workers from Citycare Water were assembling at the site where the water is leaking from, which is close to the Chinese Gardens.

Workers had been working on a water main in a deep trench and a witness at the scene said it appeared a pipe was clipped with a digger as they were filling the hole.
