Miss Reid owner Jacqueline Margetts said this year’s Valentine’s Day was extra busy because if fell on a Friday.
"Usually if it’s during the week people are a bit more disorganised, but since it’s on a Friday there’s lots of date nights happening."
She said her team had worked until midnight on Thursday and had been on their feet since 4am yesterday completing more than 100 orders.
Mother's Day was normally the biggest day of the year for the florist, but Ms Margetts thought Valentine’s Day was going to be bigger this year because of the economy.

Ms Margetts said while roses were still popular, people were going for more colourful palette this year — hot pinks and warm yellows were top choices.
She said flowers were more expensive this year because Dunedin no longer had a flower market. Buyers were paying about $15 extra for bouquets.
Miss Reid was sourcing its flowers from Auckland, Christchurch and local growers.
