Two people were taken to hospital after a truck and car collided near Ravensbourne yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the collision at the intersection of State Highway 88 and Finch St at Burkes about 3.15pm.

Two ambulances and several fire appliances attended the scene, along with police.

A person was trapped in the car following the crash, police said.

The two people were taken to Dunedin Hospital, one with moderate injuries and the other with minor injuries, a St John spokesman said.

Details of the pair were unavailable, emergency services said.

Diversions remained in place for some time after the crash and the truck was leaking diesel, a police spokeswoman said.

Motorists and pedestrians were asked to avoid the area yesterday afternoon.
