Time-lapse shows Ed Sheeran mural's popularity

A Dunedin-based woman who captured a time-lapse of fans flocking to Dunedin's Ed Sheeran mural says it was "money well spent".

Earlier today fencing had to be put up on Bath St as fans flocked to get pictures taken with artist Tyler Kennedy Stent's Sheeran mural.

After it was announced online criticism of the Dunedin City Council spending $8350 on the mural quickly mounted, including from a city councillor, musicians and a television host.

But Annabella Seoh, who today shot a timelpase video of fans flocking to the mural, says it was "money well spent" and a joy to see families getting their photos taken with the mural.

She said the mural brought "the community together".

Ms Seoh, who is from Singapore and has been living in Dunedin for six months, shot the time-lapse over a five minute period just before 5.30pm.

Do a time lapse in 6 months or so time when ed-mania and the extras have left Dunedin.
Then you can see definitively how long-lastingly popular and worthwhile it is....
