Teen arrested after robbery

Police have arrested a 19-year-old wanted in relation to the armed robbery of a group of teenagers in St Kilda last month.

The teenager was arrested in Christchurch on Tuesday, police said.

He is accused of punching a 15-year-old boy in the head and holding a replica firearm to the head of a 15-year-old girl in St Kilda last month.

He was arrested following an unrelated incident in Christchurch and appeared in court the same day.

He was remanded, police said.

His two co-accused, Desiree Alamaine Cooper (38) and Elaine Aroha Tongia (32), were released on bail on September 23 after an appearance in the Dunedin District Court.

The pair were arrested by armed police in Maitland St the day of the armed robbery.

The court heard Cooper, Tongia and the teenage accused accompanied the victims of the robbery back to a residential address following the assault, where the teenager produced the firearm again and cash was handed over.

The dispute stemmed from the sale of a cellphone to the 19-year-old.

The teenager is next due in court on October 28 and the two women will appear on October 14.
