Olympian alpine skier Ben Griffin, of Ohakune, will lead a 14-strong New Zealand alpine ski team for this year's winter competition season and the Winter Games to be held in August.
The team announced by Snow Sports New Zealand yesterday contained no surprises.
All 14 members have previously represented New Zealand.
Men's head coach and national team selector Nils Coberger said injured skiers Leighton Winsloe (22), of Wanaka, and Allie McGlinn (19), of Christchurch, had not been overlooked.
"[They] are currently injured but hope to be back on snow by the end of the southern hemisphere season. Their return will further strengthen the team," Coberger said.
Griffin (25) has a world ranking of 135 in giant slalom and 152 in Super G.
He trains at Mt Ruapehu and is the No 1 New Zealander in downhill, giant slalom, and Super G, and ranked second in slalom.
The Snow Sports New Zealand's 2010 alpine ski racer of the year was second at FIS races in Japan in August last year, earning a world ranking of 125 - New Zealand's best since Simon Wi Rutene achieved a similar result in 1990.
Tim Cafe and Adam Barwood, both of Queenstown, are ranked two and three in New Zealand in the giant slalom, respectively, and have also been included in the national team.
Cafe (24), who trains at Coronet Peak, achieved a career best finish of 31st in the Super G at the world championships in Garmisch, Germany, in February, and was the 2010 national slalom champion.
Barwood (19) trains at Treble Cone and was the 2010 national junior champion.
Leading the women's team are Sarah Jarvis (24), of Hamilton, and Taylor Rapley (20), of Queenstown.
Jarvis is the top-ranked New Zealand woman in slalom and giant slalom, and also holds these rankings for the FIS Australasian region.
Rapley has performed strongly at age group level and was third at the recent United States junior championships.
