A Christchurch private school is investigating an incident at a school camp that led to a student being suspended.

St Andrew’s College rector Mark Wilson told The Press the student was suspended while the incident was investigated due to the nature of the allegations.

He said a formal complaint had been made to police but police were not investigating.

The students involved in the incident, which reportedly took place at a year 6 camp in February, were being supported, Wilson said.

Wilson told The Press he was not aware of any students who had left the school because of the incident.

“We are taking this matter very seriously and are committed to addressing it thoroughly,” he told The Press.

“If anyone has concerns, we would be happy to hear from them directly to address this.”
