Serving members dumped

Five serving Dunedin community board members who sought re-election were dumped in the local elections.

Maurice Prendergast, a former city councillor, and Blackie Catlow were not re-elected to the Mosgiel-Taieri Community Board. Pam Jemmett missed out on the Saddle Hill board and Peter Cole and Raewynne Pedofski were not elected to West Harbour Community Board (formerly called the Chalmers Community Board).

The city has six community boards.

The Strath Taieri board has three new members — Jacinta Stevenson, David (Jock) Frew and Norma Emerson.

They join returning members Barry Williams (chairman), Bevan Dowling, and Joan Wilson.

The Waikouaiti Coast Community Board has two new faces, Mandy Mayhem-Bullock and Rose Stringer-Wright.

They join Mark Brown, Alasdair Morrison, Richard Russell and Geraldine Tait, who were all returned.

The board’s former chairman, Gerard Collings, did not stand.

The Mosgiel-Taieri board has three new faces — Dean McAlwee, Joy Davis and Phillipa Bain, joining returning members Sarah Nitis, Martin Dillon and Mark Willis.

Former chairman Bill Feather did not stand.

In the  election for the West Harbour Community Board, renamed after this year’s representation review, former Chalmers Community Board chairwoman Jan Tucker was  re-elected after a three-year absence.

She joins newcomers Ryan Jones and Francisca Griffin and returning members Steve Walker (chairman), Trevor Johnson and Ange McErlane.

There are three new faces on the Saddle Hill board, where Christina McBratney, Paul Weir and Peter Gouverneur join returning members Scott Weatherall (chairman),  Keith McFadyen and Leanne Stenhouse.

The Otago Peninsula Community Board has one newcomer, Graham McArthur.

He joins returning members Paul Pope, Lox Kellas, Hoani Langsbury, Christine Neill and Edna Stevenson.

The Peninsula board’s former chairwoman, Christine Garey, successfully stood for the city council.

City councillors will be appointed to the boards in due course.
