Firefighters work to clear the corner of lower Stuart and Cumberland Sts, in Dunedin, after a car crashed into traffic lights at 5.20pm yesterday amidst Friday rush-hour traffic.

The driver, the sole occupant of the car, was not seriously injured and police were investigating whether other vehicles were involved.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, which disconnected all the traffic lights at the intersection.

The road was cleared of glass and debris by 6.30pm.
