Kanoa Lloyd (22) auditioned for the position on the children's television programme in November and will move to Auckland to start the job next week.
She could be called a veteran of the genre after presenting for Squirt TV between 2003 and 2005 while she was still at high school: "It was the best high school job ever."
In children's television, "you just get to have fun and get paid for doing fun stuff with cool young people", she said.
After Squirt TV stopped screening, she decided to focus on her school work and her job at the Dunedin Public Library.
She was also involved in short film and theatre productions.
That was until she signed up with McDaniel and Power, an actor profile management company, last July.
Since then, directors Barbara Power and Aliana McDaniel have assisted Miss Lloyd in not only landing the gig at Sticky TV but also a role in the University of Otago's latest television advertising campaign, "Take Your Place in the World".
"They have been amazing. It's nice to have a point of contact because previously it had been hard to hear about things," Miss Lloyd said of the agency working in Dunedin.
Ms Power said her new role would "raise her profile enormously".
Miss Lloyd was looking forward to working with co-presenters Sam Wallace and Drew Neemia on Sticky TV.
"I'm going to be the token girl," she said with a laugh.
However, the industry was her "passion" and she was glad to be back in it.
"I'm quite excited to kick off with something like this," she said of her new role.
"Take every opportunity you get because anything can happen once you say yes," she said to others wanting to get into the industry.
