Power has been cut to about 100 Dunedin homes as crews battle a large vegetation blaze on the Otago Peninsula.
A Fire and Emergency spokesman said they were called about 11.30am today to the fire near Cape Saunders Rd above Papanui Inlet.
Three helicopters and five ground crews were sent to the area.
An Aurora spokeswoman said this afternoon that electricity had been disconnected to homes near Cape Saunders Rd and Allan’s Beach Rd at the request of emergency services.
It would be reconnected when emergency services gave the all-clear, she said.
