Police are appealing for information after a suspicious man approached a young girl in Outram this afternoon.
Police have reported the man pulled over on the side of George-King Memorial Dr and asked the girl to get into his vehicle at approximately 3.40pm this afternoon.
The girl refused the man and left on her bike, shaken, the police said.
The police said they found the man's behaviour concerning and were seeking to identify him.
The man was described as balding with short hair in his 40s or 50s with with a beard and tattoos on his arm.
His vehicle was described as a green or blue coloured hatchback car which was driving down the road towards Outram.
Police are looking for information from anyone who witnessed the incident or the car or believes they may be able to identify the man and are asked to contact Sergeant Kevin Davidson at Dunedin Police on 03 471 4800.
