Dunedin Horticultural Society Spring Flower Show manager Neil Judd looks over the daffodil display yesterday.

There were about 260 entries in the weekend exhibition at the St Kilda Bowling Club, he said.

From spring flowers to succulents, the show "just about" had it all. He was pleased the longstanding society’s spring show was back on in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"I know of two years where there were no shows over [170 years] and one was last year."

The best in show award went to a trumpet daffodil grown by Alan Brown.

A hands-off approach was his winning strategy.

"I plant a daffodil bulb in the ground and leave it alone. It’s exposed to the wind, the rain and every other thing that nature can send me."
