A passenger in a car that rolled twice on the Southern Motorway yesterday morning suffered a serious arm injury, Senior Sergeant Craig Brown, of Dunedin, said.
Snr Sgt Brown said the driver and four passengers were taken to Dunedin Hospital after the car rolled twice after hitting the centre barrier, about 4am.
He said alcohol and speed might have been factors, and police were investigating.
The driver was a 17-year-old male on a learner licence, Snr Sgt Brown said.
The others sustained only minor injuries in the single-vehicle crash, a St John spokesman said.
