David and Nirmala Ritchie shelled out $362.80 for two general admission (standing) tickets to Lamar's July 17 show at Forsyth Barr Stadium.
They were buying the tickets on behalf of daughter Sujata (16) and her friend.
Mrs Ritchie said her daughter, a Logan Park High School pupil, had saved up the money by working part-time at McDonald's, and she was happy to head down to make sure she nabbed tickets.
Fans took to Twitter yesterday to complain about the speed with which tickets to the Auckland show sold out yesterday. One fan claimed all tickets were gone after just 22 seconds, but a Ticketmaster spokeswoman said it took 24 minutes.
As of yesterday afternoon, there were still tickets available for the rapper's Dunedin show.
A second Auckland show on July 20 had been scheduled in response to high demand, the spokeswoman said.
For a short while yesterday it appeared most tickets for the Dunedin show had been sold-out, with only premium packages still available on the Ticketmaster site.
However, by late in the afternoon general admission and seated tickets were available again.
Seated tickets were still available this morning.
