Otago Polytech confirms Aoraki takeover

Otago Polytechnic has confirmed it will take over all of Aoraki Polytechnic's Dunedin campus programmes from next year.

All programmes, along with staff, buildings and administration, will be transferred to Otago Polytechnic.

A consultation process has been ongoing between the institutions since September 10.

Aoraki Polytechnic chief executive Alex Cabrera said in a statement the change would be good for students, key sectors and staff.

Otago Polytechnic acting chief executive Matt Carter said it was "delighted" the transfer had been confirmed and was "looking forward to welcoming the new team of staff and students" for 2016.

Mr Carter said all programmes currently offered at Aoraki in Dunedin would run "subject to achieving sufficient enrolments."

Aoraki students already enolled in Dunedin courses and those enrolled to start next year would automatically have their enrolment transferred to  Otago Polytechnic.
