Miss Scott (21) won $10,000 to launch her fashion design career, a $5000 website package, a two-page spread in international fashion magazine Cielo and various other prizes.
Her collection of streetwear garments, featuring bright orange, purple and yellow pieces, beat the creations of 31 other graduates from Australia and New Zealand, including three designers from the Otago School of Design.
Miss Scott travelled to Sydney with her parents and sister to watch her garments modelled at the event and was astounded to be named supreme winner.
Her collection, ''Pobby and Dingan'', inspired by the Australian novel of the same name, comprised long pants and hooded tops made from sheer silky fabrics, as well as heavier overcoats.
Originally from Timaru, Miss Scott hopes to start a fashion design internship next year, possibly in Sydney.
She will graduate from the Otago Polytechnic School of Design tomorrow.
