Job seekers sick of receiving rejection letters are the target market for a new online service launched by Otago Polytechnic.
Polytechnic innovation facilitator Peter Harris said DoBetter.co.nz was about linking people looking for a new career or a promotion with the right training opportunities and job-seeking advice.
People who used the service could find out what training would most improve their chances of being successful when applying for jobs, Mr Harris said.
In launching the service, the polytechnic had partnered with HR consultants including Select Personnel, the New Zealand Institute of Management, St John and Kiwihost.
The feedback from the recruitment companies had been ''really encouraging'' and Mr Harris was confident the venture would be a success.
''It's just a matter of persevering and making people aware that this is an option.''
The fact a similar service had been successful in Australia was also encouraging.
It was hoped the service would benefit the polytechnic by diversifying revenue and increasing the numbers of people signing up to its Capable New Zealand department, which assessed prior learning.
DoBetter.co.nz marketing manager Naell Crosby-Roe said the service was aimed at making it easy for people to find training to fit around their busy lives.
''We have been described as the `LifeDirect' or `Webjet' for job seekers - we put the interests of each individual job seeker first and find the training or other support that is right for them.''
