A person is dead after a crash on Dunedin's Southern Motorway last night.
A police spokeswoman said the crash occurred near the Main South Rd off-ramp, close to the Lookout Point Fire Station, about 9.10pm.
Police said last night the sole occupant of the vehicle was critically injured, and emergency services could be seen performing CPR at the scene near an overturned white sedan.
In an update this morning police confirmed the person had died at the scene.

The road was closed for a time, but police say a scene examination was completed overnight and the motorway is now open.
The crash takes the Easter holiday road toll to four.
On Friday a 27-year-old man died in a two-car crash near Queenstown, and a milk tanker driver died in South Canterbury on Saturday.
Another person was killed in a fleeing driver incident in Auckland on Thursday.
Last Easter weekend nine people died on the country's roads.
