Nine make submissions on plan

Nine organisations have made submissions on a proposed management plan for Pukekura (Taiaroa Head).

The draft Pukekura Reserves Management Plan was approved for public consultation in August. It planned to incorporate ecological, cultural, historic, landscape, public appreciation and tourism and commercial values.

The area was governed by the Department of Conservation and Dunedin City Council. The Korako Karetai Trust and Te Runanga o Otakou had a historic interest in the area.

Reserves policy and planning officer Paula Gunn said the submissions, covering a "broad range" of interests, would be made public in early December. The plan's hearing was scheduled for December 15 and 16.
