Harleys, Triumphs, easter eggs and charity are a winning combination.

The 27th year of the Bronz motorbike ride for charity took place on Saturday.

About 100 motorbike enthusiasts took part in the ride, which started at Careys Bay and finished at the Octagon in a roar of glory.

Bronz president Phil Scorringe thanked Cadbury for providing Easter eggs which the motorcyclists purchased.

They then ''doubled up'' and donated both the eggs and the money to the Salvation Army, in time for Easter.

The fashion of the day was mainly leather, with a few easter bunny ears in the mix. It was an event designed to draw attention to a cause but also designed for fun, according to Mr Scorringe.

Bronz is an organisation designed to protect motorcyclists' rights and has groups throughout New Zealand.
