Dunedin police are interested in any information about a man seen peering into houses at midnight in the South Dunedin area.
A female Prendergast St resident contacted police after she saw a man looking into her home at midnight on Monday.
Senior Sergeant Steve Aitken said the man was described as having dark skin and was possibly of Maori or Pacific Islands descent.
He was about 1.7m tall and ''thick-set''.
''If anyone sees any suspicious behaviour around Forbury corner or in the wider area, we would certainly be interested in talking to them about it,'' Snr Sgt Aitken said.
