An 86-year-old Dunedin man has died after being hit by a car in Fairfield tonight.
A St John spokeswoman said an ambulance was called after a report of a car hitting a pedestrian on the corner of Flower St and Main South Rd about 7pm.
The ambulance took the man to Dunedin Hospital in a critical condition and he later died, Senior Sergeant Brian Benn, of Dunedin, said.
The serious crash unit was investigating and a section of the road had been blocked, Snr Sgt Benn said.
